Along the way...
Illimani dominates La Paz and has become its emblem. Impressive and majestic, peaking at 6432 meters above sea level it is one of the Giants of the Cordillera!
This beautiful altitude-trek first takes us to the mountaineering base camp, before following along the hillsides of the Mururata mountain range (« chopped head» in the Aymara language).
Option, possibility to climb to the «Condors’ nest », the altitude camp for the ascent of Illimani, from where the view over the Cordillera and the Altiplano is breat taking.
Warning: Altitude-trek with passes at over 5000 m.a.s.l. Good acclimatization and physical condition necessary.

PROGRAM
DAY 1 : LA PAZ – PINAYA (el. 3900 m.a.s.l.) - PUENTE ROTO (el. 4550 m.a.s.l.)
Departure from the hotel at 8 a.m. in private vehicle for Pinaya (3h30), isolated village on the slopes of Illimani, at 3900 m of altitude. We meet our team of muleteers and start trekking towards the base camp of Illimani, known as Puente Roto.
Cold lunch. All included. Bivouac.
Hiking time: 3h; Elevation gain: +650m
Note: mules and porters for the 3 days of the ascent.
OPTION JOUR SUPPLEMENTAIRE
DAY 2: PUENTE ROTO –CONDOR’S NEST (el. 5450 m.a.s.l.) – PUENTE ROTO (el. 4550 m.a.s.l.)
From Puente Roto, we reach the “condor’s Nest” located on snowline, after around 5 hours of walking on a trail that can be very steep at times. The view embracing the Cordillera and the altiplano is well worth our efforts. We descend back to our camp in the afternoon.

Hiking time: 8h; Elevation gain: +900m / -900m
DAY 2 or 3 : PUENTE ROTO – MINA AGUILA (el. 44000 m.a.s.l.)
We follow an old path on the hillsides of the West face of Illimani (summit symbol of La Paz). The glacier is nearby. After a hike of about 6 hours and a pass 5000 meters above sea level, we arrive at our camp, next to the ancient mine of Mina Aguila, at 4400 m.a.s.l.

Hiking time: 6h; Elevation gain: +450m / -600m
DAY 3 or 4 : MINA AGUILA – TUTURAL PAMPA
We climb up the Illimani foothills to a pass at an altitude of 4800 meters, from where we descend to camp at Tutural Pampa, at the foot of Mururata (6/7-hour walk).
Cold lunch. All included. Camping or lodging with local host (basic comfort).
Hiking time: 6h; Elevation gain: +400m / -800m
DAY 4 or 5 : TUTURAL PAMPA – TREK MURURATA – LA PAZ
Early departure for our beautiful and almost unknown trek. We walk from one laguna to the next until we reach the foot of the glacier Mururata (el. 5870 m.a.s.l.) then we descend to Tutural pampa (6/7 hour-walk), where our private 4WD awaits us to take us back to La Paz.
Cold lunch. Dinner open.
Hiking time: 5h; Elevation gain: +500m / -500m

Your trip will be confirmed once we receive a deposit of 30% of the total amount on our Bolivian account or on our web site (Visa card icon on the top right; enter your name as the reference). The balance must be paid upon arrival in Bolivia in American dollars or Euros.

Important
- As a security measure, each traveler needs to provide photocopies of passport and individual insurance documentation.
- If you are planning to travel to Brazil, please note that the Brazilian authorities request the yellow fever vaccine certificate to all travelers coming from Bolivia. If you do not leave the transit zone at the airport, it is not required.
