Along the way...
The race against the sun. An old Indian legend says that during the sacred ceremonies, the "campesinos" need to arrive on the shores of Lake Titicaca, birthplace of the first Inca, before the rise of the sacred star...
Our trip follows the path of this legend, on foot and on a traditional fishing boat that will take us to the high places of the Inca mythology.
Eco-ethno-journey that will leads us to the encounters with traditions and ancient populations, using local means of transport, far from the beaten path...

PROGRAM
DAY 1 : LA PAZ – HUATAJATA - SURIKI
Departure from the hotel at 9:30 a.m. in a private vehicle. We drive along the Cordillera Real until we reach the village of Huatajata (2h), where we can try one of their delicious trout, gastronomic specialty of the lake.
We embark in one of their authentic and colorful fishing boats and navigate the lake at the whim of the winds until we reach one of the small nearby islands: Suriki or Kalahuta known for their handicraft make out of reeds (between 2 and 4 hours depending on the wind’s mood...).

DAY 2 : SURIKI – TIQUINA
In the morning we visit the island on foot. Crossing towards the Tiquina Straits, separating the larger from the smaller part of the Lake. After a 4 to 5-hour crossing (depending on the weather conditions).
Cold lunch. All included. Bivouac.
DAY 3 : TIQUINA - TREK - COPACABANA
We walk from village to village, across fertile fields of quinoa and chuño (dehydrated potato). Incredible insights in the daily life of the inhabitants of Lake Titicaca as well as beautiful views of the Cordillera Real. About a 6-hour walk to Copacabana, sacred town on the lake.
Cold lunch (included). Dinner open. Hotel / lake views.
DAY 4 : COPACABANA – TREK - YAMPUPATA - ISLA DEL SOL - YUMANI
The trek continues along the crest of the Yampupata Peninsula. We cross the village of Zampaya that time seems to have forgotten...
Arrival in Yampupata after a 4/5-hour walk. A boat takes us to the Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun), where we disembark at the old Inca Palace of Pilkokaina.
A 30/40-minute walk brings us to the village of Yumani, from where there is a magnificent view of the lake. Cold lunch. All included. Lodging at María and Ismael’s house (basic comfort).
Note: During the following 2 days a boat will be at our disposal to transport the group as well as the gear during the walks.
DAY 5 : YUMANI – ISLA DEL SOL (ISLAND OF THE SUN) TREK - CHINCANA - CHALLAPAMPA
From Yumani, we start the trek by following the crest of the Island to the North where we find the vestiges of the Inca ruins of Chincana, the labyrinth in Aymara (3 to 4-hour walk). Then we reach the beach of Challapampa.
Evening open.
Cold lunch. All included. Lodging with local host in the village of Challapampa (basic comfort).
DAY 6 :CHALLAPAMPA – COPACABANA – LA PAZ
n the morning we return with our motorboat to Copacabana (a 2 to 3-hour crossing). There we visit of the most interesting sites of the town: Horca del Inca, cathedral…
Lunch in Copacabana then return to La Paz in our private transport (about 3½ hours). End of day open.

Your trip will be confirmed once we receive a deposit of 30% of the total amount on our Bolivian account or on our web site (Visa card icon on the top right; enter your name as the reference). The balance must be paid upon arrival in Bolivia in American dollars or Euros.

Important
- As a security measure, each traveler needs to provide photocopies of passport and individual insurance documentation.
- If you are planning to travel to Brazil, please note that the Brazilian authorities request the yellow fever vaccine certificate to all travelers coming from Bolivia. If you do not leave the transit zone at the airport, it is not required.
